HI,
Whether you have been reading our emails for some time or only joined us recently, I want to properly welcome you and explain why we decided to build this newsletter.
There are many things we could talk about here. We could go straight into subscriber growth, writing frameworks, lead magnets, offers, or how a newsletter can make its first $1,000. We will cover all of that in the coming emails, but I think it is important to begin with the reason we are doing this.
For a long time, we knew a newsletter could become something valuable, but we did not fully understand how all the pieces worked together.
We wrote emails and shared ideas, but the growth was slow. There were periods when hardly any new subscribers joined, and that could be difficult because we were still putting time and thought into the work.
When you keep creating without seeing much movement, you naturally begin to question whether the idea is working or whether people are interested in what you have to say.
The problem was not that newsletters had stopped working. We simply had not yet built a clear system around ours.
We were paying too much attention to the next email and not enough attention to the complete picture. We had to understand why someone would join, what would make them stay, which problems we could help them solve, and how the newsletter could eventually support a real business.
That understanding did not arrive in one afternoon. It came from trying different ideas, watching some of them fail, noticing what readers responded to, and slowly becoming clearer about the kind of newsletter we wanted to build.
Once those pieces started coming together, the results began to change as well. More people joined, our audience grew into the thousands, and we began to see that a newsletter could become far more than a place where we occasionally sent an email.
It could become a direct relationship with people who genuinely wanted to hear from us.
That is one of the main reasons I believe so much in building a newsletter. Social media can help people discover your work, but your connection with them often depends on a platform you cannot control. A post might reach thousands of people one day and almost nobody the next. Even people who follow you may never see what you publish.
Email gives you a different kind of connection.
When someone joins your newsletter, they are inviting you into a more personal space. They are giving you an opportunity to share an idea properly, explain the thinking behind it, and help them solve a problem without fighting for a few seconds of attention.
Over time, that relationship can also become a business.
A reader may buy a guide, join a community, recommend your work, hire you for a service, or simply stay with you until the right offer arrives. That process feels much more natural when you have already spent time helping them and showing them how you think.
This is the part of newsletter business that interests us most. It gives ordinary people a way to turn their knowledge, experience, and ideas into something they own.
You may be a writer, coach, creator, freelancer, business owner, or someone who has only recently started thinking about working online. You may already have useful knowledge from your job, your clients, your mistakes, or a problem you have learned to solve. A newsletter gives you somewhere to collect those lessons, share them with the right people, and gradually build something around them.
That “gradually” matters.
Making your first $1,000 from a newsletter is possible, but it rarely begins with the money. It begins by choosing a useful problem, attracting people who care about it, and earning enough trust that they are willing to take the next step with you.
That is what we are going to explore together.
In the coming emails, we will share the frameworks, ideas, experiments, and lessons that helped us reach this point. We will show you how to choose a newsletter topic, create something people want to join, find your first readers, write emails with a clear purpose, and build an offer that fits the audience you are serving.
We will also talk about the parts that did not work, because those lessons are often more useful than a polished success story. There were times when growth felt painfully slow and times when we were unsure what to write next. Learning how to work through those moments was part of building the newsletter we have today.
Our goal is to help you see the whole process clearly, so you can build your newsletter with more confidence and make fewer of the mistakes we made along the way.
More than anything, I want this newsletter to show you what becomes possible when you build an audience you can speak to directly.
It can give you a place to share your ideas.
It can help you become known for something useful.
It can lead to clients, products, partnerships, and income.
And, with time, it can give you more choice over the kind of work you do and how you spend your days.
Thank you for being here and becoming part of what we are building.
Before the next email arrives, I would love to learn a little about you. Reply and tell me where you are right now:
Have you already started a newsletter, or are you still trying to decide what yours should be about?
Your answer will help us create emails that are closer to the problems you are currently trying to solve.

P.S. In the next email, we will look at the first decision every newsletter owner has to make: choosing a clear idea that gives the right people a reason to subscribe.
Before you go, today’s newsletter is supported by Flow. If you regularly use AI tools, you already know how much time can disappear typing long prompts and explaining every detail. Flow lets you speak naturally to your AI tools, just as you would explain a task to a colleague.
It is a simple way to share more context while spending less time at the keyboard.
You can take a closer look below.
Talk to your AI tools the way you'd talk to a colleague.
You don't send a colleague a three-word brief. You explain the context, the constraints, what you've already tried. But typing all that into ChatGPT takes forever — so you don't.
Wispr Flow lets you speak your prompts instead. Talk through your thinking naturally and get clean, paste-ready text. No filler words. No cleanup. Just detailed prompts that actually get you useful answers on the first try.
Millions of users worldwide. Works system-wide on Mac, Windows, and iPhone.
